This Privacy Policy explains how Old Skool Rave Tapes Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Old Skool Rave Tapes mobile application (the “App”).

2) Scope

This policy applies to the Old Skool Rave Tapes mobile App only (Android and iOS). It does not cover third-party websites or services you may open via links inside the App.

3) Summary of what we collect

Depending on how you use the App, we may collect:

A. Account information (registered users only)

  • Email address
  • Password (stored in hashed form; we do not store plaintext passwords)
  • User name
  • Profile picture/avatar (optional)
  • Your acceptance of the Privacy Policy at registration (and the policy version recorded at the time)
  • Your “old skool events” opt-in preference (if enabled)

B. Social Wall content

  • Posts and comments you create (text)
  • Media you upload (images and videos)
  • Links you include in posts/comments
  • Like counts and comment counts (stored as part of content metadata)
  • Reports submitted by users about posts/comments (report reason + the item being reported)

C. Blocking

  • A “blocked users” list associated with your account (used to hide content from users you block)

D. Server and security logs (minimal)

  • Basic log data generated by our servers and infrastructure for security and operational purposes, which may include IP address and user agent.

E. Communications

  • If you contact us, we receive the contents of your email and your email address.
  • If you opt in to “old skool events” emails, we will send occasional emails (typically 2–3 times per year) and record basic unsubscribe status.

4) What we do not collect

We do not knowingly collect:

  • Precise GPS/location data
  • Contacts
  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA / Google Advertising ID)
  • Payment data (no in-app purchases described)
  • Health or biometric data
  • Third-party social logins (Facebook/Google/etc.)

5) How we use your information (purposes)

We use information for the following purposes:

Provide the App and its features

  • Create and manage accounts
  • Authenticate users
  • Let users create, edit, and delete their own posts/comments
  • Display posts/comments, likes, and media
  • Apply user blocking

Moderation and community safety

  • Review reports and take administrative action (including removing content or restricting accounts)
  • Prevent abuse, spam, or misuse

Communications

  • Respond to support emails
  • Send “old skool events” emails if you opted in (with unsubscribe)

Security and reliability

  • Maintain server security, troubleshoot issues, and protect the service (including via minimal server logs)

6) Legal bases (UK GDPR)

We rely on these legal bases where applicable:

  • Contract: to provide the account features and Social Wall functionality you request by using the App as a registered user.
  • Consent: for optional communications such as “old skool events” emails.
  • Legitimate interests: for moderation, platform integrity, preventing abuse, and maintaining security and reliability (balanced against your rights).
  • Legal obligation: if we must comply with a legal requirement.

7) How your content is shared (public nature of posts)

If you post on the Social Wall, your user name (and avatar if you set one) and the content you post (including media and links) may be visible to other App users. Please do not post personal information you do not want others to see.

8) Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not share your personal information with any third parties.

9) Data retention

We retain data as follows:

  • Account data: retained while your account is active.
  • Posts/comments: if you delete your account, your posts/comments are retained but anonymised (your account link is removed so they no longer identify you). You are advised in-app that you can delete posts/comments manually before deleting your account if you want them removed.
  • Blocked users list: retained while you remain registered (as part of your account preferences).
  • Backups: retained for approximately 7 days in rotating backups; deleted data may persist in backups until rotation completes.
  • Email marketing opt-in: retained until you unsubscribe or delete your account (as applicable).

10) Your rights (UK users)

Subject to UK GDPR and applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal information
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information (where applicable)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Request data portability (where applicable)
  • Withdraw consent (e.g., for marketing emails)

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK supervisory authority (the Information Commissioner’s Office).

11) Security

We implement appropriate security measures designed to protect your information. This includes access controls and storing account passwords using one-way hashing (we do not store plaintext passwords).
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data using reasonable safeguards appropriate to the nature of the service.

12) Children

The App is not intended for children. The App may contain strong language and adult themes in music/lyrics.

13) App permissions

The App may request:

  • Photos/Media library permission to let you choose and upload images/videos for posts and comments.

You can control permissions via your device settings.

14) Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above, and where appropriate we may also provide notice in the App.
